| If you are short on time, the best places for birding around Pune will be Sinhagad valley or Peacock Bay.
the deciduous forests are lush green right now and you could have good sightings of Crested Serpent
Eagle, Changeable Hawk Eagle, Tickell's Blue Flycatchers, Black-naped Monarch, Black-headed Cuckooshrike, Grey-bellied Cuckoo, Crested Buntings, Orioles, Eurasian Blackbirds, Minivets, Wood Shrikes, Black-lored Tits etc.
If you have some more time you could go to Dongarwadi forest (around 75 kms)
on Mulshi road, i nice patch of evergreen forests, good for Scarlet Minivets, Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, Shama, the odd Malabar Pied Hornbills, Crimson Sunbird etc, For overnight trip, you could look at Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary about 120 kms from Pune. |
